I'm really sorry to keep foisting these obscure British actresses on you - I'm sure you've got better things to do...
Actually I suspect on past evidence (Tod Slaughter for one) that you would get a big kick out of No Orchids - it's full of British actors pretending to be American gangsters and it's all quite wonderfully sleazy. (The main gangster is played interestingly enough by Jack LaRue, who had played the equivalent role in the Hopkins film.) And yes, Linden is very much indeed like Elizabeth Russell.
I suspect I'm about to embarrass myself, but in Patricia Laffan you have one on me - I'm just off to look her up...
The real-life type workload has lessened a little, so I envisage having somehwhat more time to keep up with the blogs now! In fact I'm just off over to Carfax to do a little piece on the new Hammer Glamour book...

Frankly, that "streak of steel beneath the elegance" has always driven me crazy. Whenever I catch that quality, my ears go up like a bird dog! Love the part about No orchids for Miss Blandish. I really hope that is available. I really want to see her in that one! "Shading from fear, through revulsion and on to inhibited desire . . " Yow! She certainly deserves to be remembered rather more than she has been. You get the feeling that if she had been born a few decades later, she might well have been a major British film or tv star. She was just slightly out of synch with the film world that she found herself in.
